Local Lacrosse Company, ECD Lacrosse, Is Changing The Game
MD MEP (Maryland Manufacturing Extension Partnership) Maryland’s leading manufacturing resource and service provider is pleased to announce the success and growth of ECD Lacrosse., one of the sport’s most innovative companies, located in Towson, MD, and one of the first to bring back the manufacturing of lacrosse sticks to Maryland.
While playing lacrosse in college, Greg Kenneally spent his free time repairing sticks for his teammates. Tired of constantly replacing mesh that did not hold up in the rain and snow, Greg saw a need for a more weather resistant mesh. In 2011, after months of research and development, Greg perfected the first, weather resistant, East Coast Mesh. What started with a simple desire to improve upon a traditional product has launched ECD Lacrosse into an industry leader. Their rapid success and massive fan following has turned this once small operation into a world-wide household name within the sport.
In just a few short years, ECD Lacrosse has gone from a one-person operation making wax lacrosse mesh in the basement to a 21,000 sq. ft. production and R&D facility that employs over 35 people while shipping products all over the world. As ECD Lacrosse has grown, they have expanded their product line and found themselves on a mission to dominate the entire lacrosse stick from top to bottom. Their in-house team of designers and engineers continuously develop and test new ways to innovate the game through advanced technology. Introducing new materials, fibers, and build designs has helped ECD Lacrosse set the industry standard. As a result, the ECD Lacrosse mesh, head, and shafts have become some of the top selling products on the market.
“We are extremely proud of how far we have come in just a few short years,” says Mike Kenneally, Vice President & Co-Founder of ECD Lacrosse. “Our new headquarters and R&D facility, in Towson MD, really allow us to make the best products possible. We at ECD Lacrosse are committed to perfecting every aspect of the lacrosse stick.”
Much like the game of lacrosse, ECD shows no signs of slowing down. Helping drive their global success is their commitment to connect with their end users. As the most followed company in the sport on social media, they continue to reach new consumers by creating original content that gives the inside look at new products, industry trends, the ECD Lacrosse headquarters, and features on ECD Pro athletes.
“ECD Lacrosse is a great example of the new age of Maryland manufacturing,” said Mike Kelleher, Director of MD MEP. “They have been able to take a simple vision and turn it into a global business through their tireless effort to always better their product and creatively connect directly with their fan base through social media.”
