Internship Program
The Maryland MEP’s Manufacturing Internship Program is returning for the summer of 2024!
Manufacturing internships provide invaluable opportunities for college-aged students to gain hands on experience and develop essential skills that are crucial for their future careers. The Maryland MEP Manufacturing Internship Program provides a bridge between academic learning and real-world application, offering students of all majors a chance to understand the complexities of the manufacturing industry while contributing meaningfully to a company’s operations.
Maryland MEP’s Internship Program provides training, mentorship, and networking opportunities for Maryland Manufacturing interns. Throughout the Program, Maryland MEP will provide soft skills and resume building training, and provide participants with access to Maryland MEP’s on demand training platform including courses provided by Tooling University. Interns will participate in manufacturing tours at a variety of Maryland manufacturing companies to learn more about the industry and opportunities for employment upon graduation. Interns will also engage in a capstone project throughout their internship and present projects details, business impacts, and experiences in person upon completion of the program to all participating interns and supervisors.
2024 Maryland MEP Internship Program Requirements:
- To be eligible to participate, participating companies must be a Maryland manufacturer (Manufacturing NAICS code required in Dun & Bradstreet database).
- Intern candidates must be eligible to work in the United States and may be asked to meet specific hiring requirements of participating organizations.
- Selected Interns must work a minimum of 30 hours a week and a minimum of 4 weeks total.
- Interns are expected to participant in the Maryland MEP training & tour schedule as part of the Program.
- A Maryland MEP Internship Training Form and all intern Paystubs must be submitted to Maryland MEP at the close of the program to receive funding support.
- Any funding support will be issued at the completion of the internship via electronic bank transfer.
Funding may be available to support wages paid to inters by participating manufacturing companies. If funding is awarded, participating manufacturing companies are eligible for $1,000 in wage support per intern (up to 3 interns per company, $3,000 maximum in funding support per company).
